On my mind: Repurposing a doodad

Some law that says pharmacies cannot re-use prescription bottles continues to frustrate me. Until things change, I will recycle the recyclable parts & hope to find uses for the little colored rubber rings that come around each bottle.
Love this shamrock a friend gave me, but I didn't want the terra cotta pot scratching the plant stand, so that's where these doodads come in handy.
A couple of rings came off when I washed the pot's tray, but no worries, just a little Elmer's all-purpose glue turns the trick.
Always keeping my eye out for new purposes for the doodads and doohickeys that seem to breed around here. If you have any other ideas for new uses for these little rubber rings, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks, Rhonda at down-to-earth, for sharing this On My Mind concept. Anything on your mind? Share your link here or on down-to-earth.

Very clever! I have kept mine in a large container and repurpose mine for little things that come up- like seeds, pins, etc. I think I have a few too many at the moment. Maa

Every little bit helps! It makes me happy to know that I am far from alone when I am at home scratching my head saying "Well, I am sure I could use it for SOMETHING...I just have to figure out what." :)

What a great idea.
I was doing a course recently and it was saying that instead of seeing unwanted things as rubbish, waste, trash,... we should be seeing these as resources.

I love how you are able to think outside of the box. I would never have thought of this use for the little rings, but now my mind is turning, wondering how else they could be used.
Thanks for another great idea.

Good idea for something that would otherwise go into the trash. I love that. I also loved your fish recipe in the previous post. I'll be giving that a try.

Use the caps for checkers on homemade checker boards. You don't even have to paint, just use a marker to differentiate "checkers" for each person.Or paint. Put an X or O for a game of tic tac toe. You don't have to worry about losing these outdoors or in the car.Okay, I will put the rest of my ideas on MY blog instead of hijacking yours. Right now, I am using one arm because the other is "frozen at shoulder. I have had cortisone injection and now have four day supply plus lots of other meds. Check Saturday for ideas.

Aren't you clever! I'm always amazed at how many things we can reuse when we just take the time to care.

Great idea! I should think more about what to do with such things.

I had a shamrock like that once. I loved it!

Great idea! And I bet it works way better than the cork mats sold specifically for this purpose. I always have such moisure problems with those.
