Make do: I used to hate my bed!

While the rich walnut woodgrain of this bed appeals to me, the design of the headboard leaves me cold. I'm stuck with it though. As it's an heirloom from Hubby's paternal grandparents, it's not going anywhere. To make it work, I asked my mum to make us a quilt & some pillow shams. My only contribution was to say I wanted "rainbow colors." The end result is the quilt you see here, what Mom calls her "wonky" quilt. I call it BEAUTIFUL and a funky, creative piece of quilt-art. Art that camouflages or at least somewhat obscures the part of this bed that I don't like. Yet another case where making do can turn out even better than expected.
Don't you love it when that happens?

Your Mom's quilt is absolutely beautiful. I love it. I also love the bed. They compliment each other well. Good idea.

Lovely, both bed and quilt and pillows. Yes, I like it when something is unexpectedly so nice. I just keep going back to look at it over and over. I know that is silly, but I am like a child when I make or get something that I love.

Your quilt is beautiful! I like your bed, too. I inherited my Grandma's bedroom set when she passed away last year. Her set brings back so many memories.

The quilt is perfect on the bed. The bed is lovely too. Have you ever though about painting it. I know some would be shocked to think of doing that but if it makes you happy.....
I have some beautiful furniture items that we inherited and there's one dresser I would love to paint in a light colour. I haven't done it yet because I've come up against a lot of opposition. I've been thinking of giving it away as the piece is large, dark and depressing. Everyone loves it but it's standing in my house and I have to look at it every day.
You know..one day I will just do it! Maa.

aw, thanks, you guys! and Maa, I wouldn't be above painting something but the woodgrain of this bed is one of the things I DO like about it, so I'd better keep that. ha
